I have experience of teaching students English and 11+ at a popular tutoring organisation. As part of the English tutoring, many tasks were creative writing based. I was also an English Prefect at school where I ran a creative writing club for younger students in which I helped explain how to make your story as exciting as possible, and how to gain the highest marks. These students also produced multiple different written pieces from different prompts which I marked and provided constructive criticism for. This class received great feedback as the students not only improved in skill and confidence but really enjoyed engaging with their creativity and imagination. I have a high 2:1 degree (69%) in English Literature from Russell Group University of Sheffield. I have this year completed a Master's Degree in Romantic and Victorian Literature from the prestigious Durham University for which I am projected to achieve a Distinction Grade. My plans are now to continue on to do a PhD. I partook in creative writing lessons at school and have developed these skills throughout my time at university. I have also written articles for Durham University's Student Newspaper 'Palatinate' as well as having a paper published in 'The Gissing Journal'. I believe creative writing is a subject that requires not only precision in spelling, punctuation and grammar but largely relies on imagination and passion which I aim to instil in every student I teach. I am extremely passionate about literature and hope my love of literature and creative writing will encourage my students to really engage with the subject.
