Below is the 8 WEEK AGENDA

Week 1

Overview: Students will be introduced to basic circle geometry and should be able to calculate the circumference, radius and diameter. Students will be taught basic algebraic manipulation.

Class: Radius, Perimeter and Diameter

Homework:

  • Times tables 1 – 3 (up to 3 x 12)
  • Consolidation Exercises:

Week 2

Overview: Students will be introduced to new methods of dealing with multiplication and division by breaking down larger problems into structured methods of finding the solution. The key aim here is to get them comfortable with dealing with larger numbers when multiplying and dividing.

Class: Chunking Method and Long Division

Homework:

  • Times Tables 4 and 5 (up to 5 x 12)
  • Consolidation Exercises:

Week 3

Overview: Students will be introduced to ways of visualising numbers relative to others. These three methods of visualisation will help to develop data recording, multiplication, fractions, and percentages.

Class: Tally Chart, Number Line and Number Square

Homework:

  • Times Tables 6 and 7 (up to 7 x 12)
  • Consolidation Exercises
  • Mid-term progress test to be marked with Parent Reporting

Week 4

Overview: Students will be introduced to factors in order to understand how a single number can be the product of a different numbers. This will be the foundation needed to tackle the work on Highest Common Factor (HCF) work. Consideration of prime numbers will highlight the alternate properties of numbers that can help to break down larger numbers into different factors.

Class: What is a factor, HCF and What are Prime Numbers

Homework:

  • Times Tables 10 and 11 (Up to 11 x 12)
  • Consolidation Exercises:

Week 5

Overview: This week the primary objective is to tackle more complex calculations involving multiplication and division. The reason this falls towards the end of the course is to have allowed enough time for students to become confident in their own ability to deal with complex calculations involving multiplication and division. It is imperative by this stage that students have a good base understanding of their times tables.

Class 1 : Partitioning, BODMAS and Square Numbers

Homework:

  • Times Tables 8 and 9 (up to 9 x 12)
  • Consolidation Exercises:

Class 2: Intro to Non-Verbal Reasoning

Week 6

Overview: Whilst students will have been introduced to 2D and 3D shapes in years 1 – 4 at school, this week will focus on Edges, Vertices, Angles and Symmetry. The primary objective here is to get students comfortable with these definitions so that they can independently begin to learn about different shapes.

Class 1: Properties and Names of 2D and 3D Shapes

Homework:

  • Times Tables 12 (up to 12 x 12)
  • End of term assessment to be marked
  • Final Parent Report

Class 2: Non-Verbal Reasoning Exercises

I am a highly experienced Tutor specialising in 11 Plus, Mathematics, and Economics. I have done graduation from the University of Bristol in Economics and Finance with a First-Class degree. My teaching method requires my students to engage critically with the material we work through together as this is the best way to learn. Each lesson has the desired learning objective so that we can reflect on the progress being made over the course. I have myself been educated from a prestigious grammar school (Dr Challoner’s Grammar School) and received 11+ tuition from Susan Daughtrey which has given me first-hand experience of what a first-class tutor can be. With that experience, I was able to get many of my students into grammar schools and so have been a sought after tutor especially in Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
