The Science of Heat & Engineering!

Wed, July 29, 2020 (5:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

Description

What do Iron Man, Doctor Who, and Catwoman all have in common? They’re all engineers! Engineering is all about using science in real life and not just the common misconception of being a car mechanic.

In this class, we will learn what exactly heat is and how it passes through objects so that we can use this knowledge in real life! The class will begin with an interactive discussion of the concepts (where questions are encouraged), followed by a live experiment/quiz combo!

By the end of the class, you will be able to:

  • Describe what heat is;
  • Understand conduction;
  • Identify how different materials react to heat and how this is used in real life.

Please bring a pen, pencil, and paper; we will be drawing diagrams are they are essential to engineering and don’t forget to bring your enthusiasm!
